Del Norte County California Beaches

Del Norte County, California is the northernmost county in the state, known for its spectacular, untamed coastline. Seeing perhaps the least amount of tourists of any beach county is no mystery. The weather on California's north redwood coast is rainy--and tourists typically come to the beach to experience sunshine and blue skies, which they may find here, though not as often and not on a predictable basis.

The Northern California beaches do experience many days throughout the year with sunny weather but the temperatures in the region seldom top low-to-mid 70s (Fahrenheit), and in fact, can be chilly by tourism standards. Another factor influencing visitor numbers is the cold water in the Pacific Ocean at this location. It isn't exactly relaxing to most vacationers to step into temps in the 50s and low 60s at their peak. The Alaskan cold water current travels south and has its greatest impact in California in Del Norte through Point Conception around Santa Barbara, where it begins to lose strength.

For those seeking spectacular beaches with less people, more rain and cooler temps, Del Norte California beaches are ideal!
