SAN CLEMENTE, CALIF. -- Dije Beach Access is a designated Beach Access Point #4 for the Pico/Palizada area in the San Clemente. Dije Beach in San Clemente is located at the base of a hill accessible via Buena Vista at Dije Court. The neighborhood, like so many beach access points in San Clemente, features limited parking so it's pretty much first come first serve, and lots of residential parking. There are maybe a dozen parking spaces on Buena Vista. Once you find the stairs and descend you'll see a sign featuring the name of the beach, overlooking the San Clemente Pedestrian Beach Trail and railroad tracks serving Amtrak (several train stops are nearby in San Clemente.)

Dije is a popular surfing spot known and appreciated by locals. According to the Land Use Plan this beach is one of the more popular surfing beaches in the City; however, this access point primarily serves adjacent residential areas. To access the beach, sand and surf you must pass over boulders and rocks beyond the train tracks. According to published literature from the City of San Clemente Dije Beach sees an estimated 30,000 people annually. There aren't any restroom facilities, no handicap access, etc. It's a public beach but you must swim and surf at your own risk (like all beaches.)

Several years ago upgrades to Dije included repairing damaged stairs, landscaping the bluff at Buena Vista to the Coastal Trail. For beach explorers, Dije isn't necessarily your best bet, though it definitely represents the diversity of San Clemente's beaches.

Getting there: Dije is located on the northern end of San Clemente beaches, north of San Clemente Pier. The nearest public beach parking lot is North Beach featuring 250 metered off-street and 100 metered on-street parking spaces.
