Black Point Beach and Black Point Trail provide one of six access points to the Pacific Ocean Beaches beneath the headlands beginning on the south side at The Sea Ranch, a community with a hotel. The Sea Ranch Lodge is located on the southern portion of the trail where Black Point Beach is located. It is 1.5 miles distance at Pebble Beach. Stengel Beach, Shell Beach and Walk On Beach follow--each no more than a mile and a half to the next beach access point. At Walk On Beach you can see the Del Mar Ecological Reserve and wander along the Bluff Top Trail.

Operated by Sonoma County Parks, parking lots are open at either 6 a.m. or 8 a.m. seasonally and are closed at sunset with a fee of around $7 for a car. Dogs are permitted on leash on the beach, though campfires are not allowed.

Five of the six access trails provide access to the beaches by footpaths, staircases or trails. Since it washed away, there is no longer beach access from Walk on Beach Trail.
