Costa Mesa Celebrates Popcorn Day with Free
Popcorn
National Popcorn Day is January 19, 2011
Costa Mesa, California--Popcorn doesn't cost an
arm and leg, but America's favorite movie snack usually isn't given away. You
have to pay. At Orange County Market Place visitors will receive free
popcorn Saturday and Sunday, January 15 and 16, 2011.
The Orange County Market Place (swap meet) has celebrated and given away popcorn
in its own National Popcorn Day Celebration Weekend since 2008.
The weekend swap meet, held at the O. C. Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa,
has popper machines ready to cook from
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days of the weekend celebration.
Americans are popcorn eaters! They bite into 17 billion quarts of popcorn each
year. Favorite toppings include butter or margarine & salt. Caramel coating,
spicy seasonings and candy flavors all are served in shops, at ball games and
from specialty popcorn places.
Along with free popcorn, Kaptain Kernel, "the King of Korn", will perform both
days
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. showing off his popcorn spill gags, juggling popcorn
balls and turning kernels into popcorn from his magic bag.
Orange County Market Place is held every Saturday and
Sunda from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., except during the annual Orange County fair.
Admission is $2 for ages 13 years and over, and free for children 12 and under.
Free parking is also available. Call: (949) 723-6660 or ocmarketplace.com
