On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, the Legion will hold its two annual Memorial Day events that includes the traditional Civil War reading of the roll of the honored dead at Pioneer Cemetery that begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. at the Memorial at Logvy Park. Speeches, songs and the reading of the roll of the 23 new inductees in the previous May 20, 2017, 8:30 a.m. American Legion Post 231 laying of 23 new bricks in the Veterans Memorial plaza.

Past info: The American Legion will lay 11 new honoree bricks at the Veterans Memorial. Honorees and/or their families can observe or lay the bricks themselves. The public is invited. Start time is 9 a.m. The Memorial is at Logvy Park at the corner of Washington and North Oak streets. Following the cemetery ceremony, the traditional ceremony at the Veterans Memorial will include music, new brick honorees and various remarks. Start time is 11 a.m.
