Stanley Ranch Museum Electric Shoe Shop

Photo: The Electric Shoe Shop building at Stanley Ranch Museum in Garden Grove was saved from demolition and relocated to the grounds of the museum for the public to see. On display inside the building are exhibits and old equipment from the shoe shop which also was a barber shop. The back room now is devoted to a dentistry and medical exhibit with equipment from a well known Dr. Violette of Garden Grove. The building was first operated by Mr. Simon, then Jessie and Mattie Crawford for about 30 years. After it was sold to Mr. Surbrun it was operated as a barbershop for another 10 years.

Some of the most interesting items include glass shelves with old bottles of hair tonics and talcs. One bottle looks like modern day vegetable oil you can purchase in stores. But it says on that it is a body oil.
