BLYTHE is in a cold snap, like most of California. The temperatures won’t even break 60 degrees till Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013–just in time for the annual Blythe Bluegrass Music Festival held January 18 – 20, 2013. That’s when the weather for the concert weekend jumps to 66-70 degrees! It’s perfect timing for this all-American music festival complete with skydiving, flag-toting, and even a Bluegrass Quilt Show.  Camping is available for attendees to the desert winter oasis near the California/Arizona border in the Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert, at the junction of Interstate 10 and US 95. (Blythe is the midway stopping point between Los Angeles and Phoenix.)

Musicians in 2013 include Bill Evans, The Burnett Family, Silverado, The Gibson Brothers, Monroe Crossing, Pearce Family and more. Cost: $45 pass 3 day. Camping also available. Location: Colorado River Fairgrounds, Blythe, CA, blythebluegrass.com
