Imagine a giant school bus converted DRAGON driving down Historic Main Street in Colfax blowing fire balls 40′ into the air!

Anyone who’s been to Burning Man, the famous art festival with strange cars, bizarre people, and odd displays that catch on fire, knows that the event can be as “hot as hell”,  thanks to 100+ degree temps in the Nevada desert.   The great news is that a creative, artistic guy in Colfax puts on an event that many believe is even better than Burning Man, and that’s saying a lot! Fire and Steel is back after its huge success in 2012–it just keeps growing.  Art cars, burn wear, fire hoopers and spinners, fire cannons, theme camps and play are just a few oddities at California’s unique, one-of-a-kind festival that happens on June 15, 2013.   SeeCalifornia.com caught up with the guy who thought this thing up, Jim Bowers.  The brains behind all that metal, the artist and creator said that what separates Fire & Steel from other events is everything is essentially FREE for people to “interact and participate” in with one affordable admission fee. A Photo Booth where people can get their pictures taken (in crazy costumes) as keepsakes of the event, an Art Car and Burner Costume Parade through Historic Colfax, vendor booths, bands, multiple DJ’s and after-parties are some of the reasons the event more than doubled in size in 2012, and is on a trajectory to burn brighter still in 2013. The event is smokin’, literally!
