CORNING Olive Festival launched this week with the search for the Missing Olive. Clues are scattered around town and the winner of the challenge wins a cash prize.  The 24th Annual Corning Olive Festival really kicks into high gear on Friday, Aug. 24 when the Olive Festival Parade takes place at 6 p.m. Be sure to stick around afterward for our favorite, the Corning Does it Bedder, Bed Races.
The main portion of the Corning Olive Festival takes place Friday & Saturday,  August  23-24, 2013.  The Corning Volunteer Fire Department hosts a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning 7-11 a.m. Olive Seed Spitting Contest, Olive Cook-off, Balloon Rides, bands, music, vendors, games, food and fun are taking place. Tours conducted by Mayor Strack discuss the history of olives in Corning and the industry today.

And if you miss this olive event, you still can catch Fremont, Redwood City, Sylmar and Orinda olive-themed festivals this year.
