Four to See for Free!

Santa Barbara Mission (left) is the spot for the I Madonnari Street Painting Festival on Memorial Day Weekend. With an historic setting for an event that may have begun several centuries before California’s “Queen of Missions” was built with its iconic dual tower structures, you’ll definitely want to check it out if you happen to be visiting California’s Riviera on the Central Coast. Free admission!

Southern California beach bums and upper crust mix and mingle at the free Fiesta Hermosa street fest in Hermosa Beach, a Memorial Weekend treat. The three day event features bands, bicycle parking, and endless rows of artists painting, creating and selling their unique imaginings. Held right next to the Hermosa Beach Pier and beach, those who aren’t into shopping, dining and socializing at the street scene (hard to imagine,) can hit the beach for volleyball, surfing, sunbathing and good SoCal vibrations. If you have wheels, you may be able to make your way up to Venice Beach for the Muscle Beach Body Building & Bikini International Classic May 27, 2019. Free admission!

In the beautiful Sierras, the town of Arnold not far from the entry to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, plays host to an annual Memorial Weekend Spring Peddler’s Faire, now in its 41st year. The Ebbetts Pass Volunteer Fire Department’s crafts beer booth showcases local Calaveras County brews, while other vendors sell baked goodies. Free admission!

San Ramon’s Art & Wind features a weekend of bands on stage and kite making, puppetry, and other fun creatives for kids. Free admission!

From Gualala to Morrro Bay, Bishop to Ojai, feel free to play at arts and crafts events throughout the state!
