84.4% of consumers plan to celebrate Mother’s Day, spending $21.4 billion. Sunset Beach, Calif. is abuzz with its annual Mother’s Day Art Festival coming up, but one resident has his eyes trained on a much bigger prize than the festival quilt to be raffled off. J.Paul Reddam owns Nyquist, favored to win the 2016 Kentucky Derby on May 7. If he does, this won’t be the first time for Reddam to accept the Derby trophy. He bought I’ll Have Another for $35,000, won the Kentucky Derby in 2012, then sold the horse to a farm in Japan for $10 million.
Just steps from the greenbelt and festival where you’ll find moms shopping for goodies, you may find their “other half” at bars & restaurants tuned to broadcasts of Churchill Downs and the famous Kentucky Derby.
