Working Moms on Mother’s Day

  • At the AVP Huntington Beach Open May 5-8, 2016, moms are working “for their supper” in the Women’s beach volleyball competition. Santa Clara, Calif. native  Kerri Walsh Jennings, the mother of three, is best known as a gold medalists at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics. Her kids are unimpressed when they seek attention.
  • Michelle Lundeen, the Queen of Steam, performs at Gator by the Bay blues festival on Mother’s Day weekend. As a mother herself, Lundeen lives a balancing act. She is one of dozens of musician moms at weekend music festivals.
  • At beer festivals in Santa Clarita, Eureka, Buellton and Petaluma not-so-famous mothers will be serving brews.
  • Vintners (with plenty of mothers among them) are on duty at weekend wine festivals in San Francisco, Sonoma, Alameda, El Dorado Hills, Santa Barbara and Sunnyvale.
  • At Stanford Powwow special Mother-Daughter Team Dance on Sunday not only honors Native American culture, but the women who proudly pass on traditions to their youngsters. Similar events take place at UCLA, Mariposa and San Diego this week.
