Oktoberfestival

Not your typical Oktoberfest venue, Bloomingcamp Ranch in Oakdale, Calif. hosts a two-day event Oct. 18-19, 2014, featuring horse-drawn wagons and a serene country setting.  Although it seems like a deviation from the standard celebration, this event is actually truer to the very first Oktoberfest which began in 1810 in Munich, Germany. Celebrating a wedding, the event ended with a horse race.

This weekend as Californians attend thousands of Halloween costume swaps, pumpkin festivals, haunted houses and corn mazes, a smaller but equally enthusiast crowd will celebrate Oktoberfest. Among the places to go:
