Right out of the script of the movie, Groundhog Day<\/em>, this upcoming \u00a0Memorial Day weekend presents the same dialogue we heard last year in 2012. Gas prices are up over $4 for the travel weekend, and travelers will drive to the same popular destinations they went to before. Overall traffic volume is expected to be relatively flat since the start of the tourism recovery in 2010 but that doesn’t mean there won’t be traffic jams–the vast majority of local travelers will go by car this year. Statewide, Memorial Day travel also is expected to grow slightly, with over 4 million residents leaving town for the weekend. Even with gas prices above $4 a gallon, it\u2019s less expensive to drive than to fly for most Memorial Day getaways.
