Tourism in the Sierras is going to be down significantly due to the forest fires that have been blazing for over a week, but Mono County tourism<\/a> wants you to know that most of the mountain destinations are open, including lovely Bridgeport.<\/p>\n

Celebrate all things “Pioneer” and “Western” at old-fashioned Bridgeport Founder’s Day on Labor Day Weekend, August 31 – September 1, 2013. \u00a0\u00a0Bridgeport Valley’s tradition of “Founder’s Day” is rooted in the 1850’s California Gold Rush! This weekend-long celebration begins Saturday, Aug. 31 with a Main Street 5k\/10k run through town and the bull field, and includes a kids’ category. Saturday continues with team branding, bluegrass music on the historic courthouse lawn, a melodrama performance, and more, concluding with the “Fishin’ Mission” Western BBQ Fundraising Dinner. Sunday, Sept. 1 is ranch roping, historic walking tours, free hay wagon rides, and dinner, raffle and dessert auction at Memorial Hall.
