Stings from stingrays are on the rise at some California beaches this week and the feeling is not a good one. They say it can feel like a razor cut, like a knife, and in one guy’s case recently, the ray actually stung his artery, causing a real threat to his life. Swimmers at Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego beaches are being warned to take extra precautions after a dramatic increase in injuries caused by stingrays. One “sweet spot” that the sea creatures really love is ‘Ray Bay’ in Seal Beach<\/a>\u00a0where they like to hang out. \u00a0Stingrays are known for their love of warm water and since California ocean waters are warmest this week<\/a>, it only stands to reason that the rays would be having a field day.<\/p>\n HOW NOT TO GET STUNG: To avoid getting stung, we recommend that beach-goers shuffle their feet when walking in the water of the surfline. This is called the “Stingray Shuffle”.
