Gingerbread creations deck the halls and lobbies, showcasing creativity, craft and imagination. Some gingerbread structures are so big and require so much time to build that they are started five or six months before Christmas. The gingerbread house became popular in Germany after the Brothers Grimm published Hansel and Gretel. The gingerbread house tradition was imported to the United States and was warmly welcomed.
