Here’s what’s going on this week:<\/p>\nJOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK<\/strong>: \u00a0With drought comes the prospects of a parched landscape. This week the National Park Service reported that on a scale of 0 to 10 (with 10 being an abundance of wildflowers) it’s mostly 0’s, some 1’s and a scattering of 2’s and 3’s\u00a0in Joshua Tree NP. Cottonwood Canyon reports sighting of up to 40 species of flowering plants, though no massive displays of color to photograph.<\/p>\nANTELOPE VALLEY\u00a0<\/strong>CALIFORNIA POPPY\u00a0STATE NATURAL RESERVE<\/strong>
\nWildflower Bloom Status
\n2\/23\/14: California is experiencing a severe drought again this year, and the Poppy Reserve has received less than 10% of our average rainfall. The hills are still mostly brown, but there are several very small poppy plants that have dared to sprout, and a few have one small poppy flower. There are also a few other tiny flowers that can be spotted here and there along the trails. More rain is predicted this week, however at this time it does not look like we will have a good wildflower bloom again this spring.<\/p>\nANZA BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK<\/strong>:\u00a0According to Anza Borrego Foundation: “Many of you may know that we have not had any rain recently, which means that we don’t have much reason to expect showy displays of wildflowers.
