If you’re looking for chain stores and shopping malls, you’re probably not going to be satisfied with your visit to Templeton, California. The restaurants and shops are mostly independent mom & pop businesses, as are the B&B hotels and wineries. \u00a0Drive your car or ride a bike down Main Street where you’ll uncover relics of the past such as the 1899 building known as Hewitt’s Hardware. The restaurant next door, McPhee’s, has an original, handmade wooden bar dating back to the 1800’s as well. It’s a bistro that prides itself on serving fresh ingredients–they even keep chickens for fresh eggs.<\/p>\n

If you’re longing for pie, stop by on\u00a0Founder’s Day usually in early November. It \u00a0commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first passengers off the train in 1886, as well as the region\u2019s rich heritage in agriculture. \u00a0 Members of the Historical Society and the Hospitality Crew of the Templeton 4-H Club serve a free slice of pie as part of the Old Fashion Pie Social at the Museum.<\/p>\n
