{"id":15774,"date":"2014-03-18T02:26:15","date_gmt":"2014-03-18T09:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/traveltips\/?p=15774"},"modified":"2014-03-18T02:26:15","modified_gmt":"2014-03-18T09:26:15","slug":"couple-of-street-races","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/traveltips\/couple-of-street-races\/","title":{"rendered":"Couple of Street Races"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"img\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/images\/tgpolb.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s that time of year when birds chirp, flowers bloom and car engines zoom around the streets <strong>of Long Beach for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/events\/long-beach-grand-prix.html\">Toyota Grand Prix<\/a><\/strong>, taking place <strong>April 11-13, 2014<\/strong>. \u00a0The event launches on Friday with celebrity races, then moves into a weekend of highly-charged action filled with professional car racing in an incredible ocean setting.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"img\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/images\/streetra.jpg\" width=\"488\" height=\"224\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the motorized vehicles, there&#8217;s another street race where peddlers must keep pace at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/california-amgen.html\"><strong>Amgen Tour of California<\/strong><\/a> happening this year from<strong> May 11 to 18, 2014<\/strong>. Cities along its route include Folsom, San Jose, Monterey, Cambria, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, Pasadena and Thousand Oaks. The world&#8217;s top cyclists participate in a multi-staged event in which they ride from one stage to the next, then rest overnight.
