Sure, there&#8217;s fog. Yes, you have to pay attention to avoid hitting the critters as they cross the road. But the encounters with a variety of furry wildlife is great for those who have had little exposure to the wilder side of California. \u00a0The photos above were taken along S Highway 1 on the outskirts of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/california-cities\/point-arena.html\">Point Arena<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although California is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world its extraordinary diversity is being lost in many important habitats throughout the state. On average, over 20%\u00a0of the naturally occurring species\u00a0are classified as endangered, threatened, or &#8220;of special concern&#8221;&#8211;\u00a0more endangered species than any other state!
