It works to protect you 365 days a year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What public works does for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/government\/public-works.html\">typical city of 200,000<\/a> in California:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Works tests water quality more than 30,000 times a year<\/li>\n<li>Maintains 360 miles of sewer lines and 29 lift stations which pump 9.5 million gallons of sewage daily<\/li>\n<li>Deliver 9.5 billion gallons of water through 626 miles of pipe<\/li>\n<li>Maintain 143 signalized intersections<\/li>\n<li>Maintain 3,765 park, parking lot and street lights<\/li>\n<li>Maintain all city vehicles and buildings (from Civic Center, the Fire Stations and Libraries to the Recreation facilities)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By C.
