As Marysville prepares for its annual Peach Festiva<\/a>l on July 18 & 19, 2014, Californians can thank Jody Sodaro of Sodaro Orchards for thinking up the event in 1999. It turns out that celebrating peaches isn’t just about her orchard, it’s about recognition that California is the largest producer of peaches<\/a>\u00a0in the nation–not Georgia, the Peach State! \u00a0Just like Wisconsin is called the Dairy State even though California\u00a0is the biggest dairy producer, we’re not getting our just desserts when it comes to peaches. You can even the score by attending the Marysville Peach Festival\u00a0where you can sample peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach pie, peach jam, peach bbq sauce and many peach-inspired dishes. What else is California holding back on?
