In Laguna Beach (pictured) there are\u00a0over\u00a020\u00a0beaches with staircases, and only a few are wheelchair accessible, while most are not.<\/p>\n<p>California has the largest ocean economy in the United States in terms of employment and gross state product\u00a0with\u00a0$40\u00a0-50 billion per year in port trade, fishing, tourism and other businesses. \u00a0An estimated\u00a026,760,099 California residents live\u00a0in coastal counties, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the state&#8217;s population living near the coast. \u00a0Each year the United States Lifesaving Association compiles data about the nation&#8217;s and California&#8217;s beaches.
