The nation’s Rose Capital, Wasco, California, celebrates the Days of Wine & Roses this week at the annual\u00a0Festival of Roses<\/a>. On Sept. 5, 2014 the Wine & Rose Reception is the evening social event before the big Saturday (Sept. 6) Rose Parade, Rose Show and Rose Tours. While the New Year’s\u00a0Tournament or Roses \u00a0receives\u00a0world-wide media\u00a0attention, there aren’t many roses grown in Pasadena. In fact, the rose-covered floats have had to use\u00a0flowers from other countries. Wasco Rose Parade and Festival pay homage to the locally grown roses, allowing visitors to see them right in the fields and nurseries where they grow. Commercial grower\u00a0Weeks Roses in Wasco\u00a0has even been featured on HGTV’s “Beyond Spelling Manor” with Candy Spelling, for helping create a rose in her name!
