Celebrate the walnut at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/walnut-festival.html\"> Walnut Creek Walnut Festival<\/a> September 18-21, 2014.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/farms\/california-walnuts.html\">California walnut production<\/a> accounts for 99% of the commercial US supply and 75%\u00a0of world trade, and though the drought has created concern among farmers, \u00a0the 2014 walnut crop is forecast at a record level. Growers used surface water where available and groundwater when necessary to provide adequate water supply to the trees. Weather conditions during the growing season were mild\u00a0and crop quality excellent with low disease and insect pressures.
