At the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/san-diego-cabrillo-festival.html\">Cabrillo Festival<\/a>\u00a0a re-enactor climbs out\u00a0of his ship\u00a0and onto shore, just like Juan Cabrillo stepped into history as the first European to set foot on the West Coast of what is now the U.S. \u00a0&#8220;Cabrillo,&#8221; his soldiers and a priest sail into the bay on San Salvador (The Californian), and once again claim the land for Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The free admission festival with dancing, music, speeches, vendors, costumes, and some great food you can buy (such as paealla)\u00a0\u00a0takes place on September 27-28, 2014.
