A lot goes\u00a0into growing California&#8217;s Main Streets into safe, welcoming places.\u00a0Often built before\u00a0the advent of cars, as cities grow and\u00a0customers want\u00a0outdoor dining, bicycle parking, and pedestrian crossings, physical constraints can\u00a0add extra challenges. The State of California produced an interesting and useful report called &#8220;Main Street, California &#8211; A Guide for Improving Community and Transportation Vitality&#8221; (dot.ca.gov).
