The Rio Carnival is held in February,\u00a0the hottest month in the Southern Hemisphere (daytime highs of 90+ degrees) when summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is at its peak.\u00a0\u00a0Californians who come from Brazil or have attended the biggest street carnival in the world (an estimated 2 million attend daily,) hold fond memories for the five day celebration which takes place before Easter. While their hearts may be in Rio, during San Diego’s Carnival of Love their bodies and minds will dance the Samba in the warmest beach city in California some 6,000+ miles northwest of the Southern American destination.
