Animal control officials across the country see a 30-60% increase in lost pets each year during the 4th of July holiday &#8212;\u00a0July 5th is one of the busiest days of the year for shelters. \u00a0Experts in the field of animal care <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/visit\/dog-daze-leave-pets-at-home-for-4th-of-july.html\">offer this advice<\/a>: Put pets in a well ventilated house and create safe havens such as a comfortable box to hide in during the 4th of July. You can also consider hiring a pet sitter if you leave your family animal home alone. American Veterinary Association recommends closing all doors and windows to curb the noise from fireworks\u00a0while\u00a0turning on a radio to create noise distractions.
