The holiday takes place on November 1 in connection with the Catholic holiday of All Saints&#8217; Day and All Souls&#8217; Day (November 2).\u00a0Day of the Dead\u00a0approaches\u00a0death as a natural occurence filled with opportunities\u00a0to reflect and honor deceased loved ones through mementos placed on constructed altars.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/events\/halloween\/california-halloween-city-events.html\">Halloween<\/a><\/strong> on October 31\u00a0traditionally\u00a0celebrated All Hallows&#8217; Day, remembering the dead, including saints (hallows). Contemporary Halloween celebrations include\u00a0scary mazes, haunted houses,\u00a0trick or treat\u00a0candy gathering and parties.
