Ice skating is a great calorie burner&#8211;a person weighing 200 pounds who skates for 45 minutes can lose around 500 calories. Walking only burns around 235 calories.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of seasonal rinks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/icerinks\/california-ice-skating.html\">are opening next week <\/a>while\u00a0several have already begun to initiate fun:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On November 1 Santa Monica opened its annual ICE.<\/li>\n<li>On November 4 Union Square in San Francisco launched its ice rink (in photo) which remains open through Jan. 18, 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Embarcadero\u00a0rink also opened on Nov. 4 in San Francisco.<\/li>\n<li>Folsom Ice Rink was supposed to open today but has been delayed due to recent rain.
