It’s wasn’t\u00a0exactly Christmas in July but\u00a0most of us slackers were still\u00a0putting away\u00a0the\u00a0Halloween decorations\u00a0when\u00a0Newport Beach’s trendy Fashion Island shopping center\u00a0held its two-day\u00a0tree lighting festival<\/a>\u00a0on November 7 & 8. The\u00a0ceremonial\u00a0event which launches\u00a0Christmas Shopping Season\u00a0attracts huge crowds\u00a0no matter how early it is held!<\/p>\n

Fashion Island’s “tallest living Christmas tree” in Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard, and\u00a0elaborate tree lighting ceremonies in recent years have included Disney characters and themes, a magic formula, it seems.\u00a0\u00a0Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy dressed in holiday attire dance and sing Christmas tunes, then\u00a0flip the switch to light the tree. In 2015 the corporate partnership and cross-promotion between\u00a0Disney and Irvine Company (which operates Fashion Island)\u00a0includes a contest to win a Magical Holiday Package to the Disneyland Resort plus\u00a0a two-night stay and Deluxe Annual Passes.
