California’s homeless population continues to grow, making up more than one-third of the nation’s chronically homeless.\u00a0American Family Housing<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0serving 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to those in need at Westminster\u00a0Community Center\u00a0this year, but works daily to end\u00a0the cycle of homelessness.<\/p>\n Between Thanksgiving and Christmas Californians typically reach into their pockets trying to help others enjoy a warm meal and creature comforts that many of us take for granted. One volunteer at a soup kitchen has asked\u00a0people to quit volunteering at soup kitchens on Thanksgiving Day. She complained that\u00a0it has\u00a0become a circus\u00a0of too many volunteers\u00a0and\u00a0politicians dropping in for photo opportunities.
