The premise is that participants dress in Santa suits and meet up\u00a0for visits to bars &amp; pubs for holiday imbibing and Santa role playing.\u00a0Our survey of California&#8217;s dozen+ SantaCons for 2015 found\u00a0most are\u00a0hosting toy drives and community fundraisers.\u00a0 The biggest SantaCon\u00a0in\u00a0San Francisco where it all began attracts 5,000 or more participant\u00a0Santas at Union Square Park. At the 2014\u00a0SantaCon a con man dressed in a Santa suit robbed\u00a0a Union Square bank and left with money that didn&#8217;t belong to him. The pros to this event are the good deeds that raise money for causes. The cons are the large crowds and merry-makers who can spin out of control after a few beers or cocktails.
