Not always a blessing to fisherman, the local yacht clubs and boat owners are constantly struggling to keep the barking pinnipeds off their vessels moored in the harbor. Popular with tourists, Pier 39\u00a0began welcoming the creatures to\u00a0K-dock after the\u00a06.9 magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 rocked the Bay Area.
