But what keeps us alive is our food and in that regard each American farmer feeds more than 144 people, a dramatic increase from 25 people in the 1960s. \u00a0Food is the focus of National Ag Week\u00a0(March 13-19, 2016) and the annual, free\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/california-ag-day.html\">California Ag Day<\/a> at the State Capitol in Sacramento on March 16, 2016. With enough interest Ag Day festival could\u00a0grow roots and become popular throughout the state.\u00a0Urban gardens in busy Los Angeles,\u00a0rooftop\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/visit\/do-you-know-about-the-birds-and-the-bees.html\">beehives and gardens<\/a>\u00a0used by chefs at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/farms\/backyard-chickens.html\">Backyard Chickens<\/a> program promoted by the City of Albany, and the El Dorado County &#8220;Foothill to Farms&#8221; campaign\u00a0(greenchefpress.com) all are ways consumers are reducing\u00a0separation from their food.
