National Kite Month\u00a0is April 1-30, 2016<\/h2>\n

During National Kite Month Livingston, Calif. celebrates the annual ‘Time to Fly’ Kite Festival<\/a> on April 2, 2016 with a candy drop from a huge kite, ethnic costumes and dancers, Rotary Pie Eating Contest, and education on why you don’t fly kites near power lines. The festival is certainly a highlight of spring for the\u00a0Merced County city,\u00a0home to Foster Farms. Livingston not only is the corporate headquarters for the company that sells chicken & turkey but also is credited with growing 90% of sweet potatoes West of the Rockies. Wine grapes, almonds, dairy\u00a0and\u00a0blueberries are just some \u00a0of the foods produced\u00a0in the region which relies on the wind, rain, sun and soils for both \u00a0commerce and entertainment. The goal of the kite festival is to experience firsthand how much fun a family day outdoors can be, and to have the kids running around flying a kite and doing exercise without even knowing it!
