Others\u00a0eagerly hope that their kids will fish so they&#8217;ll have companions. The California Department of Fish &amp; Wildlife\u00a0offers this advice: If your child just doesn&#8217;t get excited, let it go. Even if you do everything right, fishing is not for everyone. The state fishing agency offers two free fishing days each year for adults &#8212; kids under age 16 don&#8217;t need a fishing license.
