The majority of California’s seasonal water parks are\u00a0opening now through\u00a0Memorial Day<\/a>.\u00a0Are your loved ones ready to take the swimming safety plunge like families at La Mirada’s\u00a0Regional Aquatic Center, Swim School and Splash have done since 2010?\u00a0Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death of children ages 1-14. The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (worldslargestswimminglesson.org) is a promotional event\u00a0on Friday, June 24, 2016 designed to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching kids to swim to help prevent drowning.\u00a0 All aquatic facilities participating in the WLSL can pick their time, but they need to teach the same 30-minute lesson. The curriculum is an easy, beginner lesson to allow for the broadest participation possible. As of this posting 38 swim\u00a0programs in California are participating.<\/p>\n
