With calm waters and small swells\u00a0lifeguards have been busy tending to stingray encounters in places such as Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and Long Beach. A lifeguard in Huntington Beach said there have been large numbers of tourists getting stung. Part octopus, part squid, it lives on the seafloor, burrowed into the sand to\u00a0camouflage itself while its big &#8220;googly&#8221; eyes\u00a0spot incoming prey. Another recent find is a\u00a0purple orb which unfolds\u00a0two distinct lobes. It\u00a0could be a new discovery as it remains unidentified for now.
