What many will miss is the fun going on right now.<\/p>\n<p>Background: The top travelers in the state (more than 75%) are residents. It doesn&#8217;t matter that the majority of California&#8217;s population lives within 50 miles of the coast. Most of us can&#8217;t get enough of that Pacific Ocean love as we continue to book getaways along 1,000 miles of the Golden State&#8217;s beaches, just like we&#8217;ve done for decades.<\/p>\n<h2>Back to Beach Fun<\/h2>\n<p>DANA POINT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/dana-point-festival-of-whales.html\">Festival of Whales<\/a>\u00a0(pictured). Two weekends March 3-11, 2018. If you took your inner-kid and unleashed it, that would best describe this multi-location event focused on all things beach. Tall ships, whales, parades, rubber ducks, kayaks and boating, art, classic cars and a grunion run &#8230;. the fun just goes on and on.<\/p>\n<p>MENDOCINO: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/california-whale-festivals.html\">Mendocino Whale Festival<\/a>. Multiple weeks and locations with events such as whale watching, gourmet dining, beer &amp; wine sampling and all things great about the Mendo Coast!<\/p>\n<p>RANCHO PALOS VERDES: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/rancho-palos-verdes-whale-day.html\">Whale of Day Festival<\/a> March 10. Whale watching and activities related to the sea make this family-friendly annual fest a must-see.<\/p>\n<p>CAYUCOS:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/cayucos-seaglass-festival.html\">Sea Glass Festival<\/a> March 9-11 is an annual event in which buyers can shop for jewelry and gems that are a results of the ocean and sand&#8217;s action, wearing down pieces of discarded glass, now precious in the eyes of beholders. Start the weekend with the Mermaid Ball.<\/p>\n<p>CARLSBAD: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/flowers-gardens\/carlsbad-flower-fields.html\">The Flower Fields<\/a> March-May.
