Like so many boasts &amp; brags, the state happens to be the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/dining\/california-ice-cream.html\"> top producer of ice cream<\/a>. Sweet!<\/p>\n<p>When July was declared National Ice Cream Month in 1984, it was a famous Californian who got the whole thing started. Thanks to the Gipper (President Ronald Reagan) you can eat your California ice cream proudly, as well as snack on Jelly Belly candies that Reagan began promoting as governor in 1967.<\/p>\n<p>Californians eat ice cream year-round but amp up consumption at picnics and ice cream socials on Memorial Day and 4th of July. Similarly,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/visit\/whats-a-paleteria-a-place-or-person-that-sells-la-super-paletas.html\">paleterias<\/a> see sales peak during summer holidays or when it gets hot at parks and beaches.<\/p>\n<p>With the average American eating 48 pints of ice cream annually it&#8217;s no wonder that the Golden State screams for ice cream.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/zoos\/zoo-fundraisers.html\">Ice Cream Events<\/a><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>SAN PEDRO: Cocobella Creamery is hosting a FREE ice cream frenzy event in support of In Defense of Animals, dairy-free campaign in San Pedro, 101 N.
