With all the fun tourists expect a mere 55 miles from Yosemite National Park, the event includes a Coyote Howl contest, Car Show, Beer Garden, vendor crafts, street food vendors, kids&#8217; activities, parade and in 2018, pre and post parties. Note: National Parks Public Lands Day offers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/parks\/national-parks-free-days.html\">free admission<\/a> \u00a0to Yosemite NP the very same weekend. Make it a two-fer.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no California canine possibly less loved than the wily coyote. California Department of Fish and Wildlife has a campaign relating to one of the state&#8217;s most troublesome beasts and their goal is to keep humans safe, while keeping coyotes safe, too.<\/p>\n<h2>Keep Me Wild: Coyote<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Coyotes&#8217; range is the entire state of California.<\/li>\n<li>Coyotes are smart adaptable canines.<\/li>\n<li>Coyotes help keep rodent populations under control.<\/li>\n<li>Coyotes live comfortably along side people in residential neighborhoods.<\/li>\n<li>Coyotes are fearful of humans by nature but lose caution and fear if they have access to human food and garbage.<\/li>\n<li>Coyotes can&#8217;t be relocated so they may be killed when conflicts occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Coyote Precautions<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not leave small children or pets outside unattended.<\/li>\n<li>Install motion-sensitive lighting around the house.<\/li>\n<li>Trim ground-level shrubbery to reduce hiding places.<\/li>\n<li>Put garbage in tightly closed containers that cannot tip over.<\/li>\n<li>Remove sources of water.<\/li>\n<li>Put away bird feeders at night to avoid attracting rodents and other coyote prey.<\/li>\n<li>Pick up fallen fruit and cover compost piles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The annual Coulterville CoyoteFest howls into the historic Mariposa County town Sept.21-22, 2018.
