This week the\u00a0BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a 20 acre site with the first earthquake-proof Mandir (temple) in the world, celebrates Diwali (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/diwali.html\">Festival of Lights<\/a>) and Annakut (&#8220;mountains of food&#8221; festival.) Just like the more than one billion Hindus internationally, Californians (including actress Julia Roberts,) who practice Hinduism look forward to a 5 day celebration representing the triumph of good over evil with symbolic traditions such as lighting lights, eating food and other traditions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diwali falls on November 7, 2018 with the entire 5 day event going from November 5-9.<\/li>\n<li>The northern Indian city of Ayodhya broke a Guinness World Record this November 7th by lighting more than 300,000 clay oil lamps on the eve of \u00a0the Festival of Lights.<\/li>\n<li>From Los Angeles to San Francisco celebrations actually span nearly a month with Bollywood dances in night clubs, dinner shows in restaurants, and events at temples such as Chino Hills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s always a good time to celebrate light and love over darkness and despair.
