If you’re looking to savor the flavor of a steamy chowder, there’s no finer beach than Santa Cruz. Set to the backdrop of happy screams from the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, be sure to ride first then eat.<\/p>\n

Another flavor-savor experience is trackside in Arcadia at Winner’s Circle Chili Cook-off Feb.23, where chili tastings, beers and horse racing go together well at Santa Anita Racetrack.<\/p>\n

For guilty pleasures head for the final weekend of the National Date Festival<\/a> in Indio. In addition to date foods and dishes, the fairway is filled with fattening concoctions ranging from fried vegetables, desserts and meats, to sweets of every size, shape and calorie count.<\/p>\n
