Among California&#8217;s beloved public gardens are two featured in an Architectural Digest article recently, &#8220;8 of the Most Beautifully Designed Botanical Gardens in America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino<\/li>\n<li>Balboa Park Desert Garden, San Diego<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whether its focus is botanical (plants) or arboretum (trees), a public garden is described as an institution that maintains collections of plants for the purposes of public education and enjoyment, in addition to research, conservation, and higher learning. It must be open to the public and the garden&#8217;s resources and accommodations must be made to all visitors.<\/p>\n<h2>Public Gardens Week<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Clovis Botanical Garden Committee, Inc. Garden Tour May 17, 2019 highlights Central Valley Friendly Plants.<\/li>\n<li>San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden Open House and Outdoor Eats Event May 17 has free admission.<\/li>\n<li>The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek on May 18 offers 20% off plant, pot and soil purchases in celebration of National Public Gardens Week 2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/flowers-gardens\/public-gardens.html\">See California&#8217;s Free Public Gardens<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>While most public gardens charge a fee, there are some special times and special people who can see them free! This is just a small sampling of what you can see in California&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Huntington Library &amp; Gardens, San Marino. &#8220;Free day&#8221; tickets: huntington.org\/free-day<\/li>\n<li>The Getty Gardens in Los Angeles, free admission, $20 parking<\/li>\n<li>Balboa Park Botanical Building admission is always free, and many gardens are free to see, as well<\/li>\n<li>Palos Verdes Peninsula&#8217;s South Coast Botanic Garden offers free admission 3rd Tuesday of each month<\/li>\n<li>San Francisco&#8217;s Golden Gate Park Conservatory of Flowers is free to all visitors on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
