Enterprise communications officer, Uhura \u00a0(Nichelle Nichols,) wearing a colorful mini-skirt and fashionable bouffant hairdo. \u00a0Low-tech, &#8220;futuristic&#8221; fun is a stratospheric blast! If you don&#8217;t believe me, head for Bridgeville, California to celebrate the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/bridgeville-ufo-festival.html\">BridgeFest<\/a> Aug.17, 2019, complete with a UFO contest.<\/p>\n<h2>19th annual Intergalactic Flying Saucer Trials<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Aliens fly their ships off the old bridge.<\/li>\n<li>Humans make their own UFOs and launch them, as well.<\/li>\n<li>Both species try to hit a teeny, weeny circle\u2026 closest wins.<\/li>\n<li>Pot&#8217;n&#8217;Rock 50\/50 game involves throwing rocks off the old bridge to try and hit a Pot way down on the river bed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While aliens and earthlings battle it out for top honors in Humboldt County (also home to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/big-foot-days-festival.html\">Bigfoot Days Festival<\/a>\u00a0Aug.31 in Willow Creek,) all eyes are to the skies for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/camarillo-air-show.html\">Wings Over Camarillo<\/a>\u00a0Aug.17-18. Aerial displays include vintage WWII aircraft, plus the high-tech Lightning Formation Airshow Team with an Experimental RV Aircraft doing formation maneuvers similar to Blue Angels.<\/p>\n<p>That air show is one of several great August <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/california-air-shows.html\">air shows<\/a> and military themed events such as San Pedro&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/navy-days.html\">Fleet Week<\/a> beginning Aug.30.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/festivals\/blue-angels-air-shows.html\">Blue Angels<\/a>, America&#8217;s premier aerial showmen who fly a fleet of F\/A-18 A Hornet aircraft, are back in California for shows in Lemoore, Miramar, Sacramento and San Francisco this Fall.<\/p>\n<p>If you doubt that futuristic entertainment is big in California, feast your eyes on <a href=\"https:\/\/arestravel.com\/attraction\/single\/5454\/18\">Disneyland&#8217;s<\/a> $1 billion Star Wars: Galaxy&#8217;s Edge attraction in Anaheim.
