As October 2019 comes to a close, Poimiroo summarizes the current situation in his Oct.31 report:

“This past week, strong winds stripped many trees of their peak color across California. However, the autumn show has not ended. Though the vibrance of the color has been diminished by the winds and smoky air, the effect is temporary. Trees that had not yet turned or which were not affected by the winds or smoke will continue to peak and remain vibrant in weeks to come.”

North Coast

Napa Vineyards – Near Peak to Peak (50-100%) GO NOW!
Sonoma Vineyards – Near Peak to Peak (50-100%) GO NOW!
Mendocino Vineyards – Near Peak to Peak (50-100%) GO NOW!
Humboldt Redwoods State Park (1,516′) Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!

Shasta Cascade

Walnut Groves, Upper Sacramento Valley (200′) – Near Peak (50-75%) GO NOW!
Chico (197′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Red Bluff (305′) – Patchy (10-50%)

Gold Country

Sutter Creek (1,188′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!
Mokelumne Hill (1,473′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!
San Andreas (1,017′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!
Jamestown (1,427′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!

Central Valley

Mormon Island Wetlands (377′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Folsom (220′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Sacramento (30′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Stockton (13′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Merced (171′) – Patchy (10-50%)

Southern California

Lake Hemet (4,340′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!
Oak Glen (4,734′) – Near Peak (50-75%) GO NOW!
Sespe Wilderness (2,440′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!
Valyermo (2,443′) – Peak (75-100%) GO NOW!

San Francisco Bay Area

Berkeley (171′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Briones Regional Park (1,483′) – Near Peak (50-75%) GO NOW!
Walnut Creek (131′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Danville (358′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Pleasanton (351′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Los Gatos (344′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Campbell (200′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Saratoga (423′) – Patchy (10-50%)
San Jose (82′) – Patchy (10-50%)
Los Altos (157′) – Patchy (10-50%)
San Francisco (52′) – Patchy (10-50%)
San Rafael (43′) – Patchy (10-50%)

John Poimiroo’s Fall Color Report 2019 has included photos from some ‘boots on the ground’ explorers who have documented the beauty that surrounds us in California.
