iconic piers<\/a> situated on those beaches has caught the attention of officials who have decided to shut them down.<\/p>\nAnyone in metropolitan areas watching weather reports on local news broadcasts can see these iconic piers from web cams shown in the background of the weather segments. Watching them recently, you’d notice that people are particularly fond of piers and frequent them as part of an exercise regimen–maybe a little bit more now that millions of residents are off work and their schools are closed.<\/p>\n
The trouble for concerned officials is that people visiting piers aren’t maintaining a 6-foot distance from one another. According to the City of Huntington Beach, Huntington Beach Pier and recreational amenities are closed to support social distancing after “many in the community expressed concerns about the crowd of visitors who spent time in Huntington Beach without practicing safe social distancing behavior.” The City closed the Pier beginning March 24, 2020 until further notice.<\/p>\n
